Extra Dry #08

Extra DRY is a project of collaboration between Peep-Hole and DRY Cocktails & Pizza at Via Solferino 33 in Milan. The initiative comes from a shared desire to take art out of its usual places and experiment with its possible insertion in different contexts. Antonio Rovaldi presents Call me, a 3-channel video installation that uses the three screens of the venue as windows on the city.

The invitation on the part of the founders of DRY, who are also art lovers, to imagine a project that brings art into their venue, offers an opportunity for Peep-Hole to experiment with new ways of connecting with a wider audience, putting them in touch with contemporary artistic research. The high quality, contemporary spirit and accessibility that are DRY’s strong points become the guidelines for Extra DRY, a program of video screenings started in 2013. For the second consecutive season, videos will be shown by Marco Belfiore, Antonio Rovaldi, Invernomuto, and Moira Ricci, each for a period of three months.

During this period the spaces of DRY will host three videos, installed in different rooms, on view during regular opening hours. The projects by the artists are “seamlessly” inserted in the spaces of DRY and stage a different mode of experiencing artworks. DRY thus becomes a showcase of contemporary art for a wider and more variegated audience.

Antonio Rovaldi (Parma, 1975).  The artist’s research moves around the relative themes and perceptions of spaces and landscapes, always showing the relations of the different materials used, like that of photography, video, sculptures and drawings. Since 2006 Rovaldi divides his time between Milan and New York. His recent solo shows include: Hirshhorn Museum Washington DC, The Goma Madrid, Museo MAN Nuoro.
